Titles and Aliases: The Order, The Law, The Light, Sturdiness, Structure, The Lord of Purpose, etc.

Goals: Establishing and maintaining Order within reality, undermining and abolishing Chaos wherever he can.

Associated Colors: Crimson, Silver.

Associated Elements: Light, Blood, Fire.

Positive Attributes: Calm and rational, an excellent planner. Well-mannered and meticulous. Values safety and logic.

Flaws: Black-and-white thinking, exceptionally judgemental. Disdains freedom. Restrictive to the point of fascist at times. No sense of humor.

Common/Preferred Forms: A radiant (yet perfectly-symmetrical) silvery/red glow, a tall older man with long dark hair in a dapper crimson suit, an impossibly-complex configuration of crystaline fractals that seems to go on forever, and an elegantly-crafted structure reminiscent of an Ancient Greek temple floating in a vast empty void, housing things of order and structure along with (occasionally) one of his other forms.

History: Oballa is Order. Rationality. Light and purpose incarnate.  He and his brother Koten were the first minds to exist, forming naturally in the pre-universal abyss from which all time began. After gaining sentience, the two brothers created a universe together. Liking it, they decided to create more and more, eventually creating a multiverse that is now called the Ago, held together by the first universe they built which served as a keystone or linchpin. In the Ago, Oballa and Koten were well-known by the denizens of the multiverse, who worshiped the brothers and revered them as Gods. They created a pantheon of smaller Gods, called the Sovereign, to interact directly with their worshipers and perform "minor" tasks such as making the sun rise and inducing creatures to evolve in various universes. Eventually something went wrong in the keystone universe. It was destroyed, and soon the Ago fell apart with it. The brothers created a second multiverse some time after, but this time pulled back the Sovereign and kept their existence a secret out of guilt for screwing up the first time, and instead gave the sentient life in these universes the capacity to create their own Gods via faith and empower them with worship. The two brothers found this satisfactory, and agreed to maintain that system while they continued to create and play in secret.

Unfortunately, that was about the only thing that they agreed on. His brother Koten, having a predilection for unrestricted freedom and random disorder, often did things that irked Oballa, who valued rigid control and ordered designs. Their squabbles often resulted in billions of universes being torn apart. Eventually, after their fighting got bad enough (to the point that the second keystone universe was almost destroyed), the two agreed to create a mediator. After many failures, they finally created a little sister who was equivalent to them in power but didn't want to supplant them: Ragh-Ne-Rok, who serves as a diplomatic mediator between her brothers due to her ability to see both the positive and negative sides of their plans. Of course, she is often ignored anyway as the brothers are hard-headed.


While initially appearing as a being of good to most people, Oballa's morality is far more complex and alien than what most subsentients can comprehend. He values order and structure, and detests freedom. He holds rigidness and sturdiness in high esteem, while considering disorder and freedom to be obscene depravities. His associations with light and beauty might come across as benevolent to the humans who behold him with conventional morality in mind, yet he will invariably see the free will humans have (and possibly any asymmetry on their bodies such as scars or a single hair not being the same length as all the rest) as an affront to the very beauty and light he encompasses. When a beautiful snowflake is formed according to the laws of physics, that is Oballa. When a person dies of old age or a disease, that is also Oballa. Good and evil mean very little to him, if anything at all. If a police officer who takes down a serial killer and the despotic fascist who establishes a totalitarian regime are both doing so to establish or maintain an unchanging and immutable law, then they are both good as far as he's concerned.


In the few universes where the Ultimates are known about and worshiped (either due to residual memories of the Ago or the universes advancing enough that their existence is discovered), Oballa is revered as the patron God of order, government, rules, laws, imprisonment, structure, death, skill, work, sanity, rationality, light, blood, fire, metal, submission, and dominance. He accepts offerings of expertly-crafted idols, symbols of order, or fresh blood. He can be summoned by standing in the North corner of a perfectly-trimmed and maintained garden and performing ritual bloodletting via symmetrical scarification with a steel blade. He can only be summoned every third Summer when the stars are alligned according to the Skagnium astrological compendium between the hours of 4:15 and 6:15 AM. If a single detail of the summoning ritual is performed incorrectly, punishment including (but not limited to) disintegration, petrification, immolation, soul erasure, spontaneous molecular collapse, and a light scolding may result depending on the severity of the infraction. Oballa does not tolerate nonsense, and appreciates objects and words which have a specific purpose and are elegantly crafted.
